Hirtenstieg dam route
This demanding mountainbike route leads with an 846 meter ascent directly from Bad Harzburg to the 1,142 meter high Brocken: The physically demanding ascent to the highest mountain in Northern Germany is rewarded with an impressive view far out into the Harz foreland. With a long descent through the scenic Hochharz, it then goes through dark green valleys back to around 400 meters in the region of the Oker reservoir. After a short rolling section, there are again two tough climbs with steep percentages. Over the Goldberg-mountain near Bad Harzburg it goes through deciduous and mixed forests back into the valley and above the town back to the starting point of the tour in Bad Harzburg.
