Track Overview Steep climbs Harz route

Steep climbs Harz route

Demanding mountainbike tour through large parts of the beautiful Oberharz and the scenic Hochharz, starting in Wildemann: The route starts with two climbs around Wildemann and then leads from Bad Grund with nice views to the city of Osterode am Harz at the edge of the Harz. Here the route follows parts of the 'Harzer Hexenstieg' and opens some views over the small town of Lerbach and the southern Harz foreland. The route continues over the dam of the water reservoir Söse-Talsperre and then leads uphill into the Hochharz. After the plateau of the 'Acker' mountain, it goes downhill through the Nationalpark Harz back into the Oberharz in the town Altenau. The next climbs lead to the Oberharzer peaks Schalke and Bocksberg, from where wide views to the Oberharz, the mountain slopes of the Hochharz and the northern Harz foreland are possible. With a descent it goes into the Innerste valley and then through dark green forests back to Wildemann.
