Mountainbiking in Braunlage
Braunlage is located south of the Brocken and is framed by the Nationalpark Harz. The town is one of the most popular overnight places for mountainbikers in the Harz Mountains, although not the most recommendable. The surrounding Hochharz landscape is characterized by deep valleys, wild rivers and the Oderteich, built in 1722. Due to the Nationalpark Harz, the area offers fewer mountainbiking trails than the west Oberharz. The area, which is also popular for hikers, is full od granite rocks, moor and spruce forests. In order to be able to cope with the mostly difficult trails in the area around Braunlage with fun, a good mountainbike technique is recommended. The large bikepark on the Wurmberg near Braunlage is less popular in the downhill scene, but has the longest bikepark descents in the Harz.
